What do you think the speed limit on Redwood Road should be, south of the 4 corners area to start of the communities on the south end of town?

“I think it needs to be bumped back up to 55. It’s 55 for what a mile after construction zone. That’s lame. maybe it should be 45 up to the end of the planned community and then 55 after. ” – MJ

“55 all the way like it used to be! maybe until shortly before the intersection drop it to 45, that at least would make sense!” – KVS

The speed limit has previously been 55 mph on RR from the crossroads southward all the way through town except on a couple of tricky curves. Citizen complaints about speeding truckers on that section of road prompted the City Council to seek a lower limit in some areas. The area of the new road was 55 mph until construction began, then it was lowered to keep workers safe. Construction is over, there are five lanes with additional space for bicycles. There is no longer a need for such a low limit, but permanent 45 mph signs have been posted anyway. However, a compromise that helps keep truck traffic a little slower might be good. Say 50 for large trucks and 55 for cars; or, 50 for cars and 45 for large trucks. I recommend a speed of at least 50 mph for a speed limit all the way from the south edge of the crossroads to the south end of town except at the reverse slope curve and children’s crossing at the Grandview/Saratoga Hills intersection and curve. The limit at that intersection zone should remain 45 mph for both the safety of children who might cross Redwood Road from the SSD while going up to the Saratoga Shores Elementary School and for the wet and icy road conditions on that tricky curve. There are plenty of examples of more liberal speed limits arond the county and state. 50 MPH is still pretty reasonable even with traffic lights, etc. that are planned or already exist. For the present I drive it at about 48 mph now and I get passed by just about everbody, every day.
Compared to the limits going west toward Eagle Mountain and north of Harvest Hills, this is not an unreasonable suggestion. Cowboyt
