Project update for the week of Feb. 22, 2010I-15 Interchange at American Fork Main Street: Main Street Area (East of I-15) - With traffic now moved to the south side of Main Street, please remember that lanes are narrowed and all left turns into the business areas between State Street and Kawakami Drive are to be made only at signalized intersections.
February 26: Crews will be working in the intersection of Main Street and U.S. 89. Lanes will be temporarily shifted around various work zones throughout the day. Motorists should anticipate moderate travel delays. Work on retaining walls for the north bridge of the new Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) continues. Crews are working on storm drain and retaining walls north of the DDI in the park and ride lot on 900 West. Several parking stalls on the northeast end of the lot have been eliminated. Please use caution in the area and watch for construction equipment. Work is underway at the bridge farm location, north of 900 West. Work to build the bridge spans for the north half of the interchange will begin in March.
March 8: Expect lane and off-ramp restrictions on southbound I-15 near American Fork Main Street, as trucks deliver girders for the north DDI bridge. Construction of the bridge support columns for the north DDI bridge is underway. Crews are working on the bridge foundations in the I-15 median north of the existing bridge. I-15 will be restricted to two lanes in each direction nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for bridge construction and storm drain installation. Please expect periodic restrictions at the on- and off-ramps during these hours. Lane restrictions will continue through the spring. Motorists should anticipate moderate travel delays.
A portion of the southbound auxiliary lane between Lehi Main Street and American Fork Main Street has been blocked off to allow for work on the retaining walls for the American Fork Main Street off-ramp. Please use caution through the new ramp configuration.
I-15 Travel Lane Changes: The travel lanes along I-15 near the American Fork Main Street interchange are narrowed to 11 feet and the speed limit is reduced to 55 mph. Please remember, fines for speeding violations are doubled in construction zones.
Mill Pond Road Area in Lehi to American Fork Main St.: North Area - Crews are placing embankment and constructing the bridge support columns. Work on retaining walls is complete. Trucks will be working well into the night. As trucks will be accessing this area, motorists should anticipate moderate travel delays. Flaggers will be posted to guide drivers through the work zone. This work will continue through spring.
South Area - Construction of the bridge support walls (abutments) is complete. Storm drain installation will continue through the week.
Mill Pond Road south of the intersection with 8020 North in Lehi (south of the UPRR tracks) will remain closed until late spring 2010. Residents traveling north and south in this area can use 200 South to 300 West in American Fork or 300 East to 700 South in Lehi as alternatives.
300 East to Mill Pond Area (Lehi): There is minimal work within this area. No traffic impacts are anticipated.
500 West to 300 East Area (Lehi): There is minimal work within this area. No traffic impacts are anticipated.
March 12- Late May: Center Street will be closed for utility work and construction of the new intersection. All through traffic will be detoured along 500 West and 1900 South. Other routes are available for area residents affected by the closure.
March 1-3: There will be one-way flagged traffic through the 500 West intersection while crews cross the storm drain through the intersection. Motorists should anticipate moderate travel delays
1100 West to 500 West Area (Lehi): There is minimal work within this area. No traffic impacts are anticipated.
March 11- Mid-May: 1100 West will be closed for utility work and construction of the new intersection. All through traffic will be detoured along 500 West or 2300 West and 1900 South. Other routes are available for area residents affected by the closure.
1700 West to 1100 West Area (Lehi): Construction of the trail undercrossing for the future Dry Creek trail continues. Crews will pour the top portion of the trail undercrossing this week.
Work on footings and walls for the bridge over Dry Creek will continue.
2300 West to 1700 West Area (Lehi): Minimal work will be done in this area during the winter. No traffic impacts are anticipated.
Redwood Road to 2300 West Area (Lehi/ Saratoga Springs): Jordan River Bridge to 2300 West - Installation of utility and irrigation lines will continue as weather allows.
Jordan River Bridge Area - Crews continue to build the walls for the river bridge. Placement of the concrete bridge deck is complete.
Work on the Jordan River Parkway Trail crossing at the new Pioneer Crossing bridge over the Jordan River continues. Meanwhile, the Trail remains closed approximately one mile north of the trailhead at Wetlands Park in Saratoga Springs. Please do not attempt to cross through the work zone as there are large dump trucks driving through the area. Trail users can access the trail at Willow Park in Lehi. The trail will re-open in its new configuration this spring.
Redwood Road to Jordan River Area - Crews will install irrigation lines as weather allows. Street lights will be installed along Pioneer Crossing between Redwood Road and the Jordan River.
General Project Information General work hours are between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Please use caution and slow down as you travel through the construction area as crews, large trucks and other heavy equipment are working nearby. For the safety of the public, we encourage all area residents - especially children - to keep out of the construction area.
