**Note: Although several sections of the concrete pavement have been placed, work is not complete. Please do not drive on the new road.
I-15 Interchange at American Fork Main Street: Main Street Area (East of I-15) - Motorists have been switched over to the south side of Main Street from U.S. 89 (State Street) to 1020 West in American Fork. Crews will finish installing sidewalk along the south side of Main Street.
Bridge demolition:Dec. 5-6: I-15 will be closed beginning at 10 p.m. Saturday until 9:30 a.m. Sunday while crews demolish the old interchange bridge at American Fork Main Street. Motorists will be diverted over the on- and off-ramps at the interchange. Please anticipate moderate to heavy travel delays between 10 p.m. and midnight.
Due to the demolition work, Main Street will be closed from Kawakami Drive to 1020 West from 9 p.m. Saturday to approximately 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Motorists will need to use State Street to Main Street in Lehi or 300 West to 200 South as alternative routes. Once the old bridge has been removed, crews will install settlement drains and begin building retaining walls for the north bridge.
Nightly lane restrictions on I-15:Dec. 9 - 11: I-15 will be restricted to two lanes (HOV and left lane) in each direction from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for bridge work. Motorists should anticipate moderate to heavy delays from 8 p.m. through midnight.
I-15 Travel Lane Changes: The travel lanes along I-15 near the American Fork Main Street interchange are narrowed to 11 feet and the speed limit is reduced to 55 mph. Please remember, fines for speeding violations are doubled in construction zones.
Mill Pond Road Area in Lehi to American Fork Main St.: North Area - Crews are building the retaining walls and placing embankment. Trucks will be working well into the night. As trucks will be accessing this area, motorists should anticipate moderate travel delays. Flaggers will be posted to guide drivers through the work zone. This work will continue through mid-January.
Present to Dec 21: 900 West in American Fork will be closed for culinary and irrigation line installation. Motorists will need to use 1020 West to access area homes and businesses and the park-and-ride lot.
South Area - Crews have finished building the embankment. Construction of the bridge support walls (abutments) will begin by mid-December.
Mill Pond Road south of the intersection with 8020 North in Lehi (south of the UPRR tracks) will remain closed until late spring 2010. Residents traveling north and south in this area can use 200 South to 300 West in American Fork or 300 East to 700 South in Lehi as alternatives.
300 East to Mill Pond Area (Lehi): Minimal work is being performed in this area at this time. Utility work will resume mid-December.
500 West to 300 East Area (Lehi): Crews will finish utility line connections, utility access and irrigation work during the next few weeks.
1100 West to 500 West Area (Lehi): There is minimal work within this area.
1700 West to 1100 West Area (Lehi): The crossing for Dry Creek is in place. Crews will set traffic signal poles at the intersection of 1700 West. Construction of the trail undercrossing for the future Dry Creek trail is underway. Work on utility accesses continues.
2300 West to 1700 West Area (Lehi): Sidewalk has been placed at the intersections. Minimal work will be done during the winter.
Redwood Road to 2300 West Area (Lehi/ Saratoga Springs): Jordan River Bridge to 2300 West - Installation of utility accesses, storm drain and irrigation lines continues.
Jordan River Bridge Area - Placement of forms and rebar framework for the river bridge continues. The concrete bridge deck will be placed beginning the middle of December.
Crews are restoring the embankments along the river and will remove the temporary bridge crossing by mid-December.
The Jordan River Parkway Trail remains closed approximately one mile north of the trailhead at Wetlands Park in Saratoga Springs. Please do not attempt to cross through the work zone as there are large dump trucks driving through the area. Trail users can access the trail at Willow Park in Lehi. The trail will re-open in its new configuration next spring.
Redwood Road to Jordan River Area - Signal poles and street lights will be installed towards the middle of December. Sidewalk construction is nearly complete for the winter.
General Project Information General work hours are between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For specific construction tasks there will be night work. Please use caution and slow down as you travel through the construction area as crews, large trucks and other heavy equipment are working nearby. For the safety of the public, we encourage all area residents to keep out of the construction area.
