October 27th, City Council Meeting Report

The Civic Events Committee (Darcy William and Ann Harrison) proprosed holding a Miss Saratoga Springs Scholarship Pageant. They had already contacted the Miss Utah Pageant and asked various cities as to what it would take. They presented their findings to the city council and requested the council look into partial funding of the pageant. They hope the majority of the ongoing funds could be raised by donations. This was continued to the November 10th agenda.

Bud Poduska read a touching piece about Pfc Kimball Han who was killed recently in Afghanistan. I moment of silence was observed in his honor. The funeral will be this Saturday in Saratoga Springs.

Chief Hicken presented Sterling Fenwick as a new animal control officer. He was selected from over 50 candidates and comes to Saratoga from the Department of Wildlife Resources.

Thomas Rogers of Bountiful stood and asked that the city help protect Paul and Mary Mendenhall from people suing for a right of way onto their property to build a road to the proposed bridge. Ken Leetham said that the city would provide the same protection afforded to any other citizen of our city.

Policy Item 1: to ammend the assement against properties in Saratoga was passed unanimously.

Policy Item 2: Proposed Ammended Conditions for the Villages at Fox Hollow was passed unanimously.

Policy Item 3: Providing for eight new election judges to serve for the November 3, 2009 election was passed unanimously.

Policy Item 4: Approved award of the Jacobs Ranch Corridor Trail to S&L Landscaping and Excavation.

Policy Item 5: Approved consent to power line locations on the west side of Redwood Road adjacent to the LDS Church farms.

Policy Item 6: Approved driveway improvements north of the City Police Station. Money comes from funds allocated for the new police department facility and monies that remained for that purpose.

Policy Item 7: Consent Calendar passed

Policy Item 8: Review of departmental budgets. Budgets within the first 90 days of the fiscal year have come in line with the projections and the amounts budgeted.

Meeting was then adjourned to go into closed door session.
