SuperDell for Saratoga Springs Mayor

Saratoga Springs — Former computer chain owner and TV pitchman “Super” Dell Schanze now wants to be Saratoga Springs’ mayor.
KSL News reports that Schanze — who also ran unsuccessful campaigns for Salt Lake County mayor and Utah governor, says he wants to beautify Saratoga Springs, cut spending and lower taxes. “Every person that’s on the ball and paying attention and wants freedom and liberty is going to be voting for me,” he says.
Schanze says he also wants to unleash a fresh vision of government for the Utah County town with an estimated population of 10,000: “[I want to] try and buffer everyone’s freedoms so that the police are not there to terrorize and harass, but they’re there to serve and protect,” he said.
Schanze may be best known for his over-the-top TV ads for Totally Awesome Computers, which went out of business in early 2006. He has since made headlines for occasional brushes with police over alleged infractions involving his driving, firearms and powered-paraglider operation.
