SARATOGA SPRINGS — With just four months until he’s up for re-election, Saratoga Springs has a new city councilman.
Cecil Tuley was sworn in Tuesday as the newest member of the City Council. A retired schoolteacher, Tuley will finish out the term of former Councilman Jefferson Moss, who announced his resignation June 22 with just a few months remaining on his four-year term.
Moss resigned after accepting a new position with Credit Suisse in San Francisco.
Tuley plans to seek re-election in November.
Saratoga Springs City Manager Ken Leetham said this isn’t the first time the city needed to find a council replacement. According to state law, the city has 30 days after an announcement of resignation to fill a vacancy on the council.
When Saratoga Springs announced the vacancy, 21 applicants submitted letters of interest to the city. The City Council interviewed each candidate before choosing Tuley.
